After a hard day’s work, the helpers deserved a hearty reward
25 years ago, at the suggestion of rolf wahl, vulgo "turkencapo", the first time a tree was erected at the herzogenaurach kerwa again. To commemorate this "epochal event" alex lumbe was sure the herzogenaurach kerwasburschen and -madli met at the ranch of rudiger oehl for the helper dinner.
In addition to the kerwas boys and girls with partners and children, the numerous supporters were also invited, without whose help the smooth running of the activities at the kerwa would hardly have been possible. "The turkish capo watches us from above!", alex lumbe was sure.
In the early years of the summer church fair, it had been a matter of course that a tree was erected in the weihersbach stream to announce to visitors from near and far that a kerwa was being celebrated for ten days.
New start
However, this tradition had "fallen asleep" again after a few years. Initiator rolf wahl did something against this, he made sure that a spruce was cut in the birkenbuhl, in the corporate forest, and driven with a horse team over the ringstrabe and the rathgeberstrabe into the hauptstrabe.
A stop in front of the brewery heller served the necessary supply of free beer. Accompanied by the former members of the city youth band, kerwasliedli were also sung before the procession moved across the stone bridge in the direction of weihers-bach. There the tree was set up in a sweaty action. The tree was of course extensively watered afterwards.
Since then, the active players have been putting up a tree every year, as befits a real french kerwa, after all. The attending experts naturally talked about their experiences during these years, and many an anecdote was given to the best. Peter arold collected donations again, after all, a tree is to adorn the herzogenaurach kerwa next year as well.
Professional care
Butcher udo dull was responsible for the catering at the helper's dinner, who had put a suckling pig on the spit in good time so that it was cooked for eating. In addition, many participants had provided delicious salad variations as side dishes. Gekuhlte getranke were also present.
Thus nothing stood in the way of a cosy evening with campfire.
