Experiencing the facets of music together

Experiencing the facets of music together

The students of the "songwriting" P-seminar the jack-steinberger-school in bad kissingen made it: their project seminar on study and career orientation was awarded the 2018 p-seminar prize of the lower franconian high schools.

But what is such a P-seminar actually?? In the context of such a project, the students work on a practical project. In the case of the jack-steinberger school, the goal was to compose their own songs, perform them in a concert and prepare everything themselves for the stage show. In addition, they produced their own CD, which is already out of print: "hor meinen song" it was over-written and it found brisk sales. And the students have also learned a few things, such as how to organize events themselves, how to coordinate within the group, and how to make and keep schedules.

"I am very pleased that our project seminar received the award", according to jens beck, the deputy head of school. They feel very honored to have received the award. "Ms. Jorg, the head of the seminar, was extremely committed, and she and her students did a really great job of putting it into practice, says beck. Although the school is not a musical high school, it is still well positioned: there is a big band and the optional subject of music is also very popular. This is also shown by the fact that a P-seminar "songwriting" was held," says kevin gerschutz the result was.

Concept, implementation and result

"At the award ceremony on 1. Marz in wurzburg, everyone was there, of course, and we were very happy when we received the award, explains the leader of the P-seminar "songwriting, elke jorg. In the selection of the prize-winners, particular attention was paid to the concept, the implementation and the result. Project planning also played a role here, and project management and teamwork were just as important. "The so-called soft skills of the participants were challenged; for example, the students organized the concert on their own responsibility, composed the songs, and much more", says jorg. She was very satisfied with the performance of her proteges, who showed a lot of initiative and commitment to ensure that the concert and CD production went off without a hitch.

It's clear that a project like this welds people together: when you talk to the students today, you notice that they have become a close-knit community. "We are a little sad that everything is over now. We had a lot of fun and it was also very beneficial for us personally", lisa loesenbeck sums up the feelings of the group. "I have gained more self-confidence through the seminar. In the meantime, I sing in a choir and have also performed a few times after the concert. When I sang in front of people for the first time in the P-seminar, I was very excited, beke bohm remembers. In the meantime, she hardly has any stage fright at a performance anymore. "We also learned a lot musically", guitarist luca rihm made the experience. Even before the seminar, she was writing songs. Since the deadlines for the concert were strict, she learned to work towards a specific point and then finish the piece. "We also gained insight into areas that we hadn't had before," says lisa loesenbeck, says kevin gerschutz. Before he only played the drums, through the work in the P-seminar he got to know other instrument types and their peculiarities. One student learned e-bass accompaniment here, even though she had only played the violin before. "We also learned how to put on a concert", says rihm. "You showed a lot of initiative here, that was great", elke jorg is enthusiastic.

Unforgettable moments

But even though the P-seminar is over, there may be an opportunity for the students of the P-seminar to provide musical accompaniment for the graduation ceremony or the graduation ball. The group has already shown its commitment here, too: the proceeds from CD sales were donated for the senior prom. There is some melancholy among the students that the seminar is over. Everyone had a good time, and a lot was learned as well. "I would wish everyone to have the experience that we had. We have grown through the P-seminar", lisa loesenbeck sums up the feelings of the group. Unforgettable moments remain, and of course everyone is happy to have been part of the seminar. All the more reason to win a prize for it in the end. "For us, the P-seminar was definitely worthwhile in every respect", so luca rihm enthusiastically.
