The stamp and coin collectors of kitzingen had probably not had so many visitors as at the annual general meeting on friday evening in the adjoining room of the frankischer hof for a long time. "It’s a miracle to see so many people", said chairman gunther sindel during the burial of the guests.

The main reason for the lively attendance at the meeting was probably the honoring of long-serving and deserving members of the association. At the top eberhard schlerf, who has not only been loyal to the association for 60 years. For his services to the association as a long-time secretary, he also received the golden association medal. An award that was also presented on friday to rolf seifert (treasurer), to peter muller (novelty caretaker) and to long-time board member karl gotz.

For 50 years of membership in the stamp and coin collectors kitzingen were honored: jurgen braun, he had come from munich especially for this, wilhelm erhard, rainer hofmann, eduard sauer, peter singer, and erhard wunderlich. Ortwin schwab has been with the association for ten years. In his review of the year, gunther sindel referred to eleven meetings of the association in the town and in the settlement, with "unfortunately, probably due to age, only a low level of participation. The barbecue and the christmas party were more successful. The association no longer organizes exhibitions, so the membership fee will not be raised, because the expenses of the 45-member association are limited.

Membership recruitment, especially for young people, was the topic at the end of the meeting. However, the participants did not hold out much hope of success. Stamp and coin collecting is simply not in vogue among young people, was the unanimous opinion. And even the lure of showing off your stamp collection has somehow gone out of fashion, says the assembly, not without self-irony.
